ZOP Exam Preparation courses
The ZOP is a very advanced level exam that requires mastery of all aspects of the German language. The ZOP corresponds to level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
The Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung (ZOP) certificate recognises specific knowledge of German. This advanced level exam requires candidates to understand difficult texts and to be able to express themselves fluently and elegantly in both written and spoken German.

What does the Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung involve?
Written comprehension and expression: In-depth analysis of topical and literary texts, written exercises and reading of books chosen by the Goethe Institute.
Speaking: Ability to express oneself fluently and easily in German.
Grammar skills: An advanced knowledge of German grammar and vocabulary.
The exam includes the following tests:
- written composition (subject open)
- written composition on a subject relating to a set text
- explanation of the content and vocabulary of a text
- listening comprehension (cassette)
- oral test (preparation of a subject and questions on a text).
Recognition
The ZOP is recognised all over the world and certifies a very good level of German. It is very well regarded in the professional world, and replaces entrance exams for students wishing to enrol in higher studies or at university in Germany.
